Candidate for El Segundo City Council
Biography Platform & Issues Photos Campaign Contribution Signs / Support | About David I worked for 7 years (1999-2006) as the City of El Segundo Fire Department's Emergency Services Coordinator. In 2006, I was offered the opportunity to use my expertise to develop UCLA's first full-time emergency management program. In April 2008, I ran for City Council in El Segundo and was defeated by just 23 votes. The experience walking the cities' precincts and meeting our wonderful citizens was fantastic, I gained great insight into what our community was concerned about and the challenges that lie ahead for El Segundo. More important, I learned how valuable each vote is. Your vote counts. In May 2008, I was
appointed to the El Segundo Unified School District Facilities Committee with now Council Member Suzanne Fuentes and other members of our community. The
Facilities Committee evaluated the High School athletic fields/facilities and the auditorium. We conducted site analysis surveys, met with the
architectural firm, and performed cost feasibility studies that would
form the basis of justifying the health and safety issues, construction,
and renovation issues that would be presented in the Measure "M" bond initiative. Initial costs were estimated at over $19 million dollars. The Facilities Committee evaluation process brought the costs down to $14 million dollars. In November 2008 the community of El Segundo overwhelmingly approved Measure M. In 2009, after the passage of Measure M, I was appointed to the independent citizens’ oversight committee as an alternate. I was honored to have been a part of this process that has now evolved into the El Segundo Performing Arts Center. Since 2010, I have served as the Vice President of the El Segundo Amateur Radio Group (ESARG). I have worked alongside former Mayor Carl Jacobson for over 13 years preparing our community for a major crisis. This is a partial list of the community service and activities I have participated in since 1999:
I am running on a very simple platform.
